- ⚠ You require a massive native app ecosystem right now. UGOS Pro is newer than Synology's DSM, and the built-in app library is smaller. Docker support fills the gap with thousands of applications, but if you depend on specific proprietary Synology apps, be aware of that difference.

8GB of RAM seems low for running Docker containers and VMs.

What if UGREEN stops making NAS products?
UGREEN has released multiple NAS generations with continuous software updates — they're committed. But even in the unlikely event they stopped, the hardware runs standard x86 Linux. You could install TrueNAS, Unraid, or any other NAS operating system. Your hardware investment is never stranded.
Why not just build my own NAS?
By the time you source an equivalent Intel i3, DDR5 RAM, 10GbE network card, quiet cooling system, and aluminum case — then spend your weekends installing and configuring everything — you'll have spent more money and significantly more time. With no warranty and no unified support experience.
